‘A celebration of playfulness’ - Brodie Castle near Forres set to shine bright with light trail
A historic attraction east of Nairn is set to come alive with a new light display this November.
From Friday, November 1 until Sunday, November 24, Brodie Castle will feature a beautiful light trail leading visitors through the castle grounds, featuring colourful illuminations and sensory light displays.
This year's theme ‘a celebration of playfulness’, celebrates the fifth anniversary of the Playful Garden opening to the public.
The joyful space, which is incredibly popular with visitors of all ages, has inspired this year’s event with the whimsical characters featured within the Playful Garden brought to life through colourful projections on the castle’s walls for what promises to be a captivating evening.
Pamela Hill, Brodie Castle and estate operations manager, said: “We wanted to create an atmosphere that encourages everyone to embrace their playful side and interact with Brodie’s grounds and estate in new ways. The light trail is a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the autumn evenings with a relaxing walk around our beautiful grounds.
“We are grateful to our members and supporters who make events like this possible. Thanks to their generosity, we can host Brodie Illuminated again this year with the hope that all our guests create wonderful memories while visiting.
“We’re excited to include the new element of the competition this year to add creativity and connection with our local community, so our visitors can contribute to the event in a fun and playful way. We can’t wait to see our visitors’ playful memories and display them during the event.”
The team at Brodie Castle has worked closely with independent lighting designer, Malcolm Innes, to create a new designated trail around the castle grounds.
Visitors will enjoy and experience a charming after dark journey through the Playful Garden, shrubbery and woodland. Sensory lights will be featured throughout the trail, inviting both adults and children to tap into their playful side as they interact with each light display, alongside a host of other family-friendly activities.
In addition to the light show, Brodie Illuminated will include a special competition: participants are invited to submit photographs of their playful memories at Brodie Castle and Estate, with winning entries set to be displayed on the castle walls during the event.
The light show will run from 5pm to 9pm. between Thursday and Sunday.
Hot drinks, refreshments, and Brodie’s Burger Bothy will be available throughout the event to serve hot food.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite priced £8 for children and £12 for adults and fees apply.
