The postmaster in Dingwall is all set to serve rural communities in Inverness-shire with a brand-new mobile Post Office.

The specially commissioned van will serve Dochgarroch, Glenmoriston, Dores, Farr, Dalneigh and Hilton, as well as rural villages in Ross-shire.

The service will start next month, visiting areas once or twice a week.

This will restore post office services to the communities of Glenmoriston, Dochgarroch, Dores and Farr who have been without a service for some time.

Dores Post Office, one of the smallest in the UK, closed following the death of the postmistress in May this year.

The mobile service will also provide a temporary service to the local communities of Dalneigh and Hilton while the Post Office continues to seek a permanent solution.

David Duff, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to be introducing a brand-new mobile Post Office to serve these 10 communities, restoring Post Office service to these communities.

"We thank the postmaster for Dingwall for operating these mobile post offices as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.”

He continued: "We are keen to restore permanent services to communities of Evanton, Ardross, Rosehall, Munlochy, Glenmoriston, Dochgarroch, Dores and Farr as soon as possible, so we have decided to go ahead with our plans.

"Restoring the services as a mobile outreach is a commercial decision for Post Office Ltd and we are not seeking feedback on this aspect of the change.

"However, we would welcome suggestions about specific aspects of the change about the new locations and the proposed days and opening hours.

"Feedback will close on September 15 2021.
