£792k boost for Highland Hospice

Highland Hospice will receive £792,000 from the Scottish Government.

The funding is part of a package of support for Scottish hospices to help offset some of the financial difficulties caused by the pandemic.

A hospice spokesman said it would go a significant way to reducing its forecast loss for the current financial year.

He added: "Although our Highland Hospice shops are now able to reopen, our fundraising is still heavily impacted and may be for some time to come.

"To date our supporters have been extremely generous, donating to Margaret Payne’s Suilven fundraiser, Wear Yellow Day and our current Resilience Appeal as well as undertaking your own fundraising and making donations of all sizes.

"We are enormously grateful for these vital contributions which will ensure the hospice is able to continue to deliver and support palliative and end-of-life care across the Highlands.

"With uncertainty over how long social distancing will be required and a recession on the horizon, this Scottish Government support provides much-needed relief."
