1 Theatre magic brings survival story alive ...

A spectacular live performance filmed and screened at Eden Court of National Theatre Live's production of Life Of Pi from Thursday, March 30 to Tuesday, April 4 at 7pm. Puppetry, magic and storytelling combine in a unique, Olivier Award-winning stage adaptation of the best-selling novel. After a cargo ship sinks in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a 16-year-old boy named Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a Royal Bengal tiger. Time is against them, nature is harsh, who will survive? Filmed live in London’s West End and featuring state-of-the-art visuals, the epic journey of endurance and hope is brought to life in a breathtaking new way for cinema screens.

2 Sisters, sisters ...

Solar Bear Roadshow is a play and a film for 12+ audiences on Friday, March 31 at 11.30am. It's about three sisters who first are part of family music line-up The Fabulous Funstons, before the three sisters Rowan, Eilidh and Jenn form their own punk band Pink Mess. Then one of them dies and everything changes ... It is staged in the Maclean Room with no seating plan. The play is 35 minutes long followed by the 60-minute film.

3 Get buzz-y

Get growing now that it really is spring, the Little Seedlings Club: April Workshop –on Saturday, April 2 at 10.15am and 11.30am for youngsters, Creating a bee-friendly garden. This month’s Little Seedlings workshop is all about buzzing bees and includes an introduction to bees and facts about different bee species, why bees are important and how we can encourage bees to our garden. Also, how bees pollinate flowers and there will be a fun experiment to demonstrate the bee pollination process, how to create a bee-friendly garden, find bee-friendly flowers and planting up your own lavender to take home. Plus why bees need our help and how we can do our bit to save the bees.

4 Cake and concert has the keys!

A gentle way to ease into your afternoon on Sunday, April 2 is at Inverness Cathedral from 3pm with Accordion Too: Cake & Concert which features Accordion Too with local musicians James Ross (clarinets) and Robert Wallace (accordion and piano). They got together 10 years ago as Accordion Too to play popular classics, waltzes, tangos and Klezmer, the traditional folk music which borrows inspiration from music from the synagogue, Roma peoples, European folk music, and classical music. Have tea or coffee at 3pm, before the music starts for an hour at 3.30pm The mix of cake and tea/coffee and Sunday afternoon concerts in the setting of the cathedral has already proved a hit with Inverness audiences, say the duo!

5 Chemically irresistible fun ...

Morgan & West: Unbelievable Science at Eden Court on Monday, April 3 at 2pm in an hour-long, no-interval, show for 7+ audiences. And for everyone who knows Morgan & West as magicians, maybe even time travellers ... this is the show that reveals their secret past – as genuine, qualified scientists, who have created a for-all-the-family science extravaganza!
