Police car chase in Inverness neighbourhood ended with woman arrested for carrying an “offensive weapon”
Police in Inverness last night recovered an “offensive weapon” from a woman after giving chase to a male driver.
The 29-year-old man is alleged to have failed to stop when asked to by officers near to Lilac Grove in the Dalneigh area of the city.
The incident happened yesterday evening (Wednesday, July 31) around the time social media users reported a large police presence in the neighbourhood.
The man ran off with officers in pursuit, but was caught soon after and arrested and charged with road traffic offences.
A 42-year-old woman was also charged in connection with carrying an offensive weapon.
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed: "Around 7.35pm on Wednesday, 31 July, 2024, a vehicle failed to stop for officers near to Lilac Grove in Dalneigh, Inverness.
"The driver, a 29-year-old man, then made off on foot and was traced a short time later.
"The 29-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.
"He is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Friday, 2 August, 2024.
"A 42-year-old woman was also arrested and charged in connection with carrying an offensive weapon. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
