The biggest Hogmanay party in the Highlands may have been axed for 2024, but there are alternatives out there.

How do you plan on marking the occasion before the Red Hot Highland Fling makes its eventual return in 2025?

This far out from the festive season, there’s still a lot of venues that have yet to announce their plans. But some most certainly have.

Here’s just three of those whose plans we already know about. Will you be tempted by any of them this Hogmanay?

Red Hot Chilli Pipers Hogmanay Breaks

If you really fancy pushing the boat out, money is no object, and you're eager to make Hogmanay 2024 a truly unforgettable experience, then the Macdonald Resort's festive offering in Aviemore might be an option.

As the name suggests, they have secured the one and only Red Hot Chilli Pipers for what the resort promises is "the ultimate Hogmanay getaway".

The Chillis will be the highlight of exclusive two or three-night getaway packages that include festive dinner, fireworks, a festive movie night, 'Big Festive Panto', and uluxury shopping - and much more.

And, with September yet to arrive, you've still got time to get saving.

Hogmanay Big Shindig Party

The Drumossie Hotel in Inverness will be ringing in the new year in style, with a five-piece band and a tastebud tantalising four-course gala dinner.

Those looking to make an occasion of it, will also enjoy a glass of bubbly and canape reception, before the dinner and artisan cheese board.

"Slinky, a sizzling five-piece band, will make sure you party all the way to the bells and beyond," said a spokesperson for the hotel. "They’ll have the dance floor full with their cracking ceilidh music and then keep the energy high with hits to make this Hogmanay party go with a bang!"

Booking is £120 for adults and £50 for children, and booking in advance is essential.

Options at the Kingsmills

If you're looking for a range of Hogmanay options, check out the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness.

It's offering three different ways to welcome in the new year - from shindigs in the conservatory, to five-course gala dinners, and even four-night Hogmanay packages.

Those looking just to visit for the night can check out the £110 per seat Hogmanay in the Conservatory and Lounge, which includes a three-course Hogamanay dinner in the Conservatory Restaurant, and music into the early hours from local favourite Anne Dickson and her band.

Splash £150 per head and you could try the Gala Dinner in the Kingsmills Suite, with a five-course Hogmanay dinner and music from the hotel's Hogmanay headliners Rhythmnreel - fresh from a sell-out run of December dates.

Wait and see?

All manner of Hogmanay events are expected to be announced as we head further into the darker nights of autumn and winter.

Normal Hogmanay activities range from classic ceilidhs in local bars to family-friendly fun in the hours before the bells so the little ones can get in on the celebrations without missing their bed time.

What will be among the area’s various offerings come December 31? Time will tell.
