Munlochy 21-year-old admits wilful and reckless damage to Inverness vehicle





A 21-year-old man was under the influence of drugs when he broke the window of a car and then collided with another vehicle as he drove off.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that a witness filmed the incident on his mobile phone and contacted the owner of the VW Golf, who had parked it in Averon Gardens, Inverness on June 29 this year before going away for the weekend.

Fiscal depute Sarah McNeill told Sheriff Nigel Cooke that police were informed and traced Andrew McBride, who gave his address as Brae Terrace, Munlochy, to a car park in the Ness Castle area.

McBride appeared from custody following his arrest on a warrant, and admitted wilful and reckless damage to the Golf, failing to stop of provide details after the collision, driving without insurance and failing to provide breath or blood specimens.

Sheriff Cooke decided to call for a background report and a restriction of liberty order assessment. McBride was bailed but must return on December 11 for sentencing.
