Inverness Classic Vehicle Show set to feature all manner of classic cars, including 1922 Ford Model T
A car more than a century old looks set to lead the parade when the ever-popular Inverness Classic Vehicle Show returns this weekend.
The annual event brings a spectacular mix of vintage and classic vehicles into Inverness city centre.
From beautifully restored classics to rare finds, there’s usually something for everyone to enjoy.
And this year’s event from 11am to 3pm on Saturday (May 17) looks to be no exception - with vehicles ranging from an original 1922 Model T Ford, a tank, and even the original Albion Shop van, which once provided groceries to the villages surrounding Inverness.
This year’s parade finale will travel down Inverness High Street at 3pm, led by the City of Inverness Youth Pipe Band.
And organisers at Inverness Business Improvement District (BID) cannot wait for people to soak up the nostalgia and motoring gems and curios of times gone by.
Margaret Laws, deputy manager at Inverness BID, said the group was hopeful that the Model T, which is owned by Steven Duncan, will be able to lead the grand parade on the day.
She added: “Some highlights include the military vehicles including a tank brought through from Portlethen.
“We have the original Albion Shop owned by Lawrence Sutherland who also bring a MacBrayne’s bus. This is the second visit from the shop as it couldn’t make it along last year. From 1970 until around 1986 this grocer van was owned by Wm. Munro, licensed grocer, Kessock Road, Inverness and used on services providing groceries to the villages surrounding the town.
“We also have the Royal British Legion bikers group at the top of Church Street along with the David Brown tractors brought by Ray Smith and his son.
“We have some vintage buses booked in to lower Church Street. A variety of vehicles on upper & lower Church Street, Falcon Square, High Street and Inglis Street and we have a selection of ‘super cars’ booked in to Drummond and Lombard Street.
“Miles Vincent from the Highland Classic Motor Club, who has a mini on Church Street, will provide the commentary for the parade at 3pm which is led by the City of Inverness Youth Pipe Band.”
