Dog Falls Brewing owners delighted at plans for new Inverness city centre craft beer taproom
An Inverness craft brewery’s owners said they were ‘delighted’ after getting planning green light to open a new taproom in Inverness city centre.
Last week it was announced that local beer-brewing couple Bob and Louise Masson’s idea to breathe fresh life into the ex-Semichem store on Queensgate was granted planning permission.
Although residents above the planned drinking establishment raised concerns of “alcohol-fuelled vandalism” in the area, there was widespread support form the public for the initiative, and councillors were quick to offer their support for the application.
Bob Masson welcomed the decision, whilst stating that there are still challenges on the horizon for the new venture.
He said: ‘We’re absolutely delighted that planning approval has been granted for our wee taproom in the city centre!
“I’d like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the time to support our application, which was vital in gaining this step forward.
“There are still challenges ahead before we can get busy bringing No. 23 Queensgate back to life, but we are deeply encouraged by the significant support from the local community for our plans to create a unique new venue in Inverness.’”
The next step for the project will be getting licensing approval and then firming up the detail of the build, due to the building being a listed property.
Brewing tanks will front a new 100-capacity taproom, providing a showcase for Dog Falls’ Inverness-based brewery.
Beer fans will have a chance to taste Dog Falls’ own selection of beers “fresh” from the tap along with other options from selected breweries.
This will be offered alongside a limited tasting-board style food menu to complement the drinks.
