CHARLIE Trafford believes Inverness Caledonian Thistle have the quality within their squad to finish in the play-offs at the end of the league season.

Tuesday night’s 1-0 victory against Falkirk stretched ICT’s unbeaten run to six games as they are now eight points behind Dundee United and Dunfermline in the play-off zone.

With two games in hand on Dunfermline and one on United, the Canadian said the players are going into the final five games believing they can finish within the top four and continue their season after April.

“There is a quiet confidence we can and we are going on this good run.

“We have to believe. There is no point playing if you don’t think that you’re not playing for something.

“We believe we can win these games and we have the players to do that.”

Inverness had to wait until the 82nd minute to find a goal against Falkirk as Jake Mulraney’s strike maintained their play-off chase.

Despite leaving it so late to score, Trafford said it showed ICT are prepared to fight to the end.

“We are on a winning run at the moment and when you are on that you believe you are going to get the result. It looked like it was going to be a 0-0 scrappy game but i think there is the belief that we are going to get the results. Even coming into the last 10 minutes of the game we are thinking we can get this.”

Trafford is suspended for Saturday’s game against Dumbarton but had previously been enjoying a run in the first team and hopes to make a contribution in the final part of the season.

“We are on a six game unbeaten streak and I hope that I have earned my spot. "It has been an up and down season as I have suffered a couple injuries. Looking at the double header it is big points we need to collect to keep the run going.”
