Inverness Caledonian Thistle 4 Falkirk 1
Scorers: ICT Oakley (10) Bell (28) Mulraney (30) Baird (88) Falkirk: Longridge (86)
INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle unleashed a first half blitz to kill the game off after just 30 minutes as they produced one of their best performances of the season.
Caley felt they should have been awarded a penalty after six minutes when George Oakley was through on goal after running on to a Joe Chalmers pass.
He fell to the ground claiming he was brought down by the feet of goalkeeper Robbie Thomson but referee John Beaton found the midfielder guilty of simulation and showed him the yellow card.
But he made amends in the 10th minute after Jake Mulraney skilfully ran his way through the defence in the box and unleashed a powerful shot which was spilled by Robbie Thomson with Oakley pouncing on the rebound from close range.
Caley doubled their lead when Liam Polworth used his lightning pace down the right wing before crossing into the box to find Gary Warren who squared to Connor Bell who finished off with a powerful strike from 10 yards.
Three minutes later Caley went 3-0 up when the Falkirk defence failed to pick out Mulraney as Oakley launched a cross from the left wing and found him at the edge of the 18 yard box.
He kept his cool to fire a powerful low drive to score his first goal of the season.
Caley thought that they made it four midway through the second half after Thomson spilled Chalmers shot and Oakley slotted in the rebound but he was ruled offside.
A long ball over the top of the ICT defence found Louis Longridge who chipped Ridgers from 20 yards to grab a consolation four minutes from time.
But Caley restored their three goal advantage in the 88th minute when Aaron Doran's cross from the left wing found John Baird who head into the net from close range.
