CHANNEL 4’s More4 has acquired the time-travel drama series Outlander, which will screen for the first time on UK television on Thursday, June 29 at 9pm.

Two seasons of the hit adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books have been shown on Amazon Prime as a members-only perk.

Now, the first season of the Sony Pictures Television drama, consisting of 16 episodes, will begin airing on TV for the first time.

The Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated series, which has won fans worldwide as well as a raft of awards, including Bafta Scotland and Critics Choice awards, follows the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe).

The first season of Outlander debuted in August 2014 and the second opened in 18th century France, taking in the Battle of Culloden and moving through time to 20th century New York.

The third season is due to arrive on Amazon Prime in the UK this autumn.
