INVERNESS Burns Club, which was established in 1949, held its annual Burns Supper in the Lochardil Hotel.

Top table guests were: (back row) honorary secretary Glen Stewart; piper Bill Hamilton who also addressed the haggis; Colin Baillie, who proposed the toast to the lassies; Mrs Maureen McLachlan; (front) honorary treasurer Fiona Larg, who replied on behalf of the lassies; club president Dawson Lamont, who proposed a toast to "The Toon We Bide In"; Mrs Eleanor Lamont; and Graham McLachlan who delivered the Immortal Memory.

Mr McLachlan is one of only 37 members of the prestigious Guild of Burns Speakers – 37 being the age of the national bard when he died.

Entertainment was provided by musical director and accompanist Sheila Bruce, and singers Ian Douglas and Abigail Fraser.
