Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes was fined £450 and his licence was endorsed with five penalty points at Inverness JP Court today.
The Antarctic adventurer admitted speeding at 98mph at Daviot on 20th June last year.
His solicitor, Graham Walker, told the court his client was "particulary embarrased about this matter".
He added: "He has asked me to intimate that to the court. I understand he was travelling to Inverness where he was to take part in a public speaking engagement.
“It was a beautiful summer’s day and traffic was light but that doesn’t excuse the fact his speed was 98mph.”
