Red faces over bus times gaffe

Changes to Stagecoach bus timetables will come into effect this week.

BUS company Stagecoach is to reprint its new timetables for Inverness after mistakes came to light regarding the details of a key route.

Changes to services across the city are to be introduced tomorrow in the wake of feedback from individuals and community groups during a public consultation in February.

But it has emerged that the new timetable contains errors relating to the number 4 Sunday service which operates between Blarmore Avenue in Kinmylies and Milton of Leys.

After the company was alerted to the error by the Highland News it altered the details on the website, but will now have to re-issue the printed copies.

Instead of detailing services from Milton of Leys to Highfield, the incorrect timetable gave the pick-up points and times of services in the other direction between Craig Dunain and Mile End and did not include the city centre departure point and time.

A spokeswoman for Stagecoach said the company had now updated the online version of the timetable and would reprint the paper copies. She declined to give details of how many copies had previously been printed and distributed.

A bus passenger who spotted the error was satisfied the bus company was taking action to rectify the error but added: "It’s a bit awkward for people if they have to reprint them, especially as some have gone out already."

The wider service changes are designed to reflect the current level of customer demand and to improve journey times for customers, according to Stagecoach. It also states the changes have been designed to protect the wider bus network over the long term.
