Gas distribution company SGN is to start months of work to upgrade the local gas supply network in the Bught Park area of Inverness at the end of this month.
On Monday, April 30 the first phase of work will start in Bught Road where it meets Ness Walk. This phase will last for approximately 12 weeks.
Work will progress southward around the boundary of Bught Park, alongside Bught Road then west along the park boundary, parallel to Bught Drive, up to its junction with Bught Lane.
During the final stage of phase one work will move southward along Bught Lane up to Inverness Leisure Centre car park.
The second phase of thw work will begin on Tuesday, August 21 and last for approximately five weeks.
Work will start in Ness Walk, next to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
It will progress southward up to the entrance of Bught Park.
During this phase Ness Walk will be closed between its junctions with Ballifeary Lane and Bught Road.
Access for residents and pedestrians will be maintained and a signed diversion will be in place for motorists.
SGN Engineering Manager Alex Torrance said: “We’ve worked closely with the local authority in planning this work and we will be doing everything we can to limit disruption during our essential project.
“We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, however, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years and will provide more capacity to help meet an increased gas demand in the area. This means that when the work is complete, Inverness residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.”
