Three of the four bikers set for a mammoth bike jaunt in aid of Highland Hospice, left to right, George MacIver and Diane and Kevin Morrison.

A GROUP of four bikers are preparing to ride from Land’s End to John O’ Groats in 24 hours to raise funds for Highland Hospice.

The mammoth effort is just the latest in a string of fundraisers undertaken by veteran hospice supporter George MacIver, who will be joined on this outing by Kevin and Diane Morrison and Lenny Cameron when they set off on the challenge on June 12.

While George, Kevin and Diane will be on motorbikes Lenny will take part on his trusty scooter.

The foursome, otherwise known as The Pinot Warriors, are excited about their forthcoming 900 mile adventure.

Mr MacIver said: "I’ve done previous challenges in fancy dress which results in people noticing you along the route and donating even more to Highland Hospice.

"So we are having some discussions between the four of us about how we can grab some attention – various ideas have been mooted including us dressing as The Village People, Abba or items of fruit!"

He added: "Highland Hospice is a cause close to my heart and I love biking, so I am delighted to combine the two to offer any support I can.

"We are all looking forward to the challenge and hoping to raise as much as possible for the many people in the Highlands who use the hospice’s services."

Highland Hospice’s fundraising manager Amanda Burt said: "We’re looking forward to hearing how they get on – and what they dress up as!"
