ANDREW Shinnie could become the first Caley Thistle player to represent Scotland at senior international level.
The 23-year-old top scorer for Caley Thistle this season has received a late call-up ahead of Scotland's friendly in Luxembourg this Wednesday.
Clamour for the attacking midfielder to be included in interim manager Billy Stark's squad had been growing in recent weeks, but it appeared Shinnie had been overlooked when he was left out of the original squad last Wednesday.
But his nine goals so far this season and impressive performances throughout the campaign have earned him a chance.
Several team-mates have already taken to social networking website Twitter to congratulate Shinnie, including his brother Graeme, who wrote: "Massive congrats to my big bro for his first Scotland call-up! Proud of you bro."
It comes days after Caley Thistle striker Billy McKay received a late call-up for Northern Ireland ahead of their World Cup qualification group match against Azerbaijan this Wednesday.
