Inverness gets into the groove in 1968 with new discotheque

IC 200, Inverness Courier

A NEW venue with dancing to gramophone records opened in May with the aim of providing somewhere for young people to socialise.

The Scene, in Haugh Road, also included special sound effects and lighting.

The Inverness Courier reported: "Tables and chairs surround the U-shaped dance floor and everyone will have a complete view of the dual turn-table at which Mr Jimmy Bain, Beauly, will play the records."

The Scene was the idea of Canadian teacher Mr H. Scott Lee who was on an exchange visit at Crown School.
