CULLODEN Academy celebrated winning a Scottish Cup double after two of their teams were crowned national champions.

Culloden’s senior girls’ team were also crowned national champions as they defeated Wallace High School from Stirling 88-38 in the final.

In addition, their boys’ under-15 team finished in fourth place in the tournament.

Head coach of Culloden Academy girls, Holly Martin said it was a terrific performance by all the school’s team and was proud to come back with two national titles.

She said: “I am so delighted for all the girls, especially the sixth years who have put so much of their time into the sport.

“It is a great way to end the term by finishing on such a high.

“Having played basketball myself at secondary school before University and coaching in America I know how great the sport is and can be.

“I am looking forward to next season along with my colleague Mike Sharkey as well as Millburn’s new head coach Callum Macpherson and the wider basketball community who have been so supportive.“

Millburn Academy also reached the national finals with their first year and senior boys teams.

Their first year team reached the final before going down 64-20 to James Gillespie High School from Edinburgh.

Millburn senior boys team finished in fourth place.
