POWER from the North of Scotland's Hydro Electric Board's Glen Affric scheme was brought into the Highland Grid for the first time in 1951.

Sir Hugh Mackenzie CBE, who was a member on the board, set in operation one of the three 23000 k.w turbines at the Fasnakyle generating station. This was made possible by the recent completion of Benevean Dam and the successful conclusion of the preliminary tests on the first turbine.

From the Fasnakyle generating station the power was carried by under-ground cable to a sub station nearby, and thence by overhead line, to the Beauly Station.
