I WOULD like to find the parents of Donald Fraser, born c.1761, and his wife Ann Fraser, born c 1758.

Donald Fraser was a Captain in the Fraser Fencibles. In 1800 he was a tacksman at Ballindoun and in 1811 was granted a lease over the lands of Bruiach by the Honourable Archibald Fraser of Lovat. Donald died in 1836. His wife Ann who predeceased him, died in 1830 at Bruiach. Donald and Ann had one child, a daughter Hannah, who did not marry. For a short time in the 1830s Hannah was the owner of the estate of Lakefield (now Kilmartin) in Glen Urquhart. She then purchased a property situated at 21 Ness Bank in Inverness, although in 1841 she can be found living in the High Street at Campbelton in Ardersier. Hannah Fraser died in 1856 at her house in Inverness. Apart from a few personal bequests, in her will she made several charitable bequests to the Gaelic School Society in Edinburgh, the Irish Central Institution in Balinglen, the Free East Church of Inverness, Free High Church of Inverness and the Free Churches of Kiltarlity, Kirkhill, and Campbelton, with the residue of her estate going to the Sustentation Fund of the Free Church. Both Hannah and her parents are buried in Tomnacross Cemetery in Kiltarlity. Another couple appear to have been buried in the same grave but at a much later date. I would like to know what their relationship to Donald Fraser etc. is. They are Thomas and Jean Fraser who lived at 5 Drummond St in Inverness. Thomas Fraser was born about 1842. He was a Carpenter by trade and his parents were Donald Fraser, a blacksmith and Betsey Fraser. Thomas Fraser died in 1934. Jean Fraser died in 1920. She was born in 1841 possibly at Torgormack in Kilmorack. Her parents were William Fraser a Weaver and Janet/Jessie Fraser. The informant in both cases was a Grandson by the name of Iain Fraser Cameron. Also mentioned in the will of Hannah Fraser was a cousin James McIntosh or Mackintosh who was a farmer near Munlochy (This is possibly the same James McIntosh who was a farmer at Balblair and later at Easter Suddie who was married to an Ann Stewart) as well as sisters Bathia Levay and Margaret Fraser daughters of Hannah's Uncle Alexander Fraser of Fraserburgh. I am hoping that there is someone who might have some useful information who may be able to help me. Perhaps someone may recognise or have an interest in the people or places mentioned. If so any information would be appreciated. Christine Tregonning, New Zealand CJTregonning@xtra.co.nz
