Sir, We, the family of the late Kevin Mcleod, would like to question why "compassion" (and favouritism) has been shown in the case of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi by Scotland's justice secretary, yet in our and many other cases of injustice brought to Mr MacAskill's attention, he has refused to intervene to help his fellow Scots, who have often been at their wits' end begging for his assistance.

Mr MacAskill could not even afford my family and our MSP Jamie Stone a two-minute meeting to discuss both the shambolic murder investigation undertaken by Northern Constabulary into Kevin's death at Wick harbour in February 1997, and to resolve the issue of a serving prisoner's probable implication. Yet Mr MacAskill personally visited Mr Megrahi in Greenock prison to discuss his case. If he can meet with a convicted foreign terrorist and express compassion towards him, he should do the same for us. Allan Mcleod, Firhill, Alness, Ross-shire. |
