PLANS to build six restaurants at Inverness Retail and Business Park have been refused planning permission.
Councillors at the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey planning applications committee decided not to grant planning permission to Inverness Estates.
The consortium wanted to build six restaurants including a McDonalds drive-through, KFC drive-through, Starbucks drive-through, Nandos, Frankie and Benny’s restaurant and a pub/restaurant near the headquarters of Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
A decision on a separate application brought forward by Inverness Estates to develop land at the back of the retail park for bulky good retail space, including a garden centre and DIY store, was also deferred.
Meanwhile, a plan to create a camping and caravan park at Foyers was refused planning permission.
Donald and Lyn Forbes had hoped to use land at Monument Park in Riverside, Foyers, to create 81 pitches for caravans, 19 pitches for tents, with a further 20 for overspill and six camping pods.
The plan also included a reception centre, site shop, cafe, managers office and wet weather centre.
Councillors felt the development was too large for the area.
