A PARTY train will take music lovers from London to the RockNess music festival at Dores next year.

Creative Scotland has given organisers £45,000 to lay on the RockNess Express, a bespoke train service to the festival from Kings Cross station, featuring on-board music and the best of Scottish food and drink.

The funding was announced yesterday as part of the Year of Creative Scotland 2012 - a programme celebrating the country's events, festivals, culture and heritage.

Inverness Chamber of Commerce and VisitScotland said they hoped the RockNess Express would boost economic activity across the region.

Creative Scotland will invest £6.5 million of National Lottery funds in the Year of Creative Scotland 2012, which starts on 1st January.
