THE Inshes slip-road re-opened this afternoon — almost two weeks later than anticipated.

The road off the A9 has been closed since 8th January for the final phase of upgrade work, which was required to be carried out by Asda as part of its planning conditions for a new store at Slackbuie.

During the closure, traffic has been diverted via the Milton of Leys junction, although Millburn Road and Old Perth Road has borne the brunt of the congestion from the detour.

A spokeswoman for Asda explained wet weather had initially caused the delay in laying an anti-skid surface. Then, an inspection last Friday, identified “remedial issues” which needed to be addressed.

This included work to ensure the appropriate lighting of statutory speed limit signs and extending the anti-skid surface.

Inverness resident Alan Ogilvie, of Drumossie Avenue, Drakies, hit out at the lack of communication from Asda on the delay and when the road would open.

Work to widen the slip-road has been ongoing since October.
