Young Fraser Urquhart had very a clear request for his fifth birthday celebrations.
Instead of getting lots of presents, he wanted to help raise money for the Raigmore Children’s Ward Appeal.
As a result, young guests at his birthday party raised £157 for the appeal which aims to transform the existing children’s ward into a world-class centre for sick children.
Fraser lives with his parents George and Ruth Urquhart, sister Rachel (9) and brother William (7) in Sandalwood Drive, Milton of Leys.
Mrs Urquhart explained that Fraser, a P1 pupil at Milton of Leys Primary School, was very keen to help sick children.
"He said if he got five presents, that would be enough," she said. "So instead of bringing presents, those coming to his party were invited to make a small donation."
More than 30 youngsters attended his party at the Hilton Community Centre which included an hour of sports and games followed by a further hour of fun and food. Instead of party bags, the young guests also received a yellow T-shirt designed for the £1 million fund-raising appeal launched by the ARCHIE Foundation in conjunction with The Inverness Courier.
"Fraser has never spent time on the children’s ward," Mrs Urquhart said. "But my mother was in hospital last year for about six months. He is very conscious of what it is like in a hospital."
Meanwhile, Fraser got his birthday wish for five presents including a Thomas the Tank T-shirt and DVD.
