A charity evening featuring an indoor bowling competition has raised £1150 for the Raigmore Children's Ward Appeal.

The keenly-fought tournament, organised by the Inverness and District Indoor Bowling Club, attracted 58 players.

The event, at the club's premises at Fairways, also included a raffle, lucky square competition and catering.

Secretary and vice-president Roddy Mitchell said the evening's total was thanks to the generosity of members and non-members.

"When we discussed what the money should go to, we considered the children's ward appeal was appropriate," Mr Mitchell said.

"It is a local charity and we are obviously a local team."
